Kachemak Bay Quilters’ News

Spring. Is it spring? Yesterday at the park, I heard a dad ask, “How do you like this nice summer day?” What a thought. Whatever the season is, we are enjoying less snow during our morning treks to Thursday meetings at the Kachemak Center.

News:

*The Kachemak Center has decided to give us the room rent-free, because they consider us community service. That was great news! So, we cut our weekly dues in half, being that we only need to cover our local guild expenses now, such as service quilt materials and group supplies.

*We enjoyed the Kenai Peninsula Quilters’ Guild Retreat from February 21-23. Many of our group attended, enjoying the camaraderie, coffee, interactive events, coffee, North Beach Quilting’s pop-up shop, coffee, Dana Michelle’s presentation, and a mini-quilting class. Did I mention coffee? Non-stop cutting, sewing, and pressing gave us the momentum to finish projects, and for some, the mystery quilt tops.

Seeing everyone’s work, and hearing their stories during show-and-tell times, whether at retreat, or on Thursdays at lunchtime, is the best. People’s personalities, experiences, and even their hearts are expressed through their quilting art, a great gift to family, friends, and the community.
