VP/Education Report

By Sue Magyar

Greetings, Fellow Stitchers!

More of us have been busily jumping into our more active winter season, completing projects started earlier in the year (or in some cases, years!), and starting new ones. Is anyone doing a Block of the Month? This is a good way to keep your sewing machine gears going without a huge time commitment.

We had a great time at Getting Ready for the Holidays. The three projects presented by the different communities were quick to put together and easy to understand. Two bonuses, on top of being together for several hours of fun together.

I've been firming up a contract with our own Lily Huebsch, who will be teaching the Maxwell Bag on Saturday, May 18, 2024. This class will cost each participant $65. If you would like to attend, please send me a check for $65 made out to KPQG (Kenai Peninsula Quilting Guild), to: Sue Magyar, PO Box 1617, Seward, AK 99664. When I have the class requirements (which will include homework), I'll send those to you.

We still have openings for the following classes for 2024:

Deb Tucker - Sugar & Spice. Thursday & Friday, July 11 & 12. $110.

Deb Tucker - Mama Bear's Paws. Saturday, July 13. $55.

RaNae Merrill - Spirals Boot Camp. Friday, August 23. $60.

RaNae Merrill - Free Motion Mastery. Saturday, August 24. $60.

$350 altogether. Santa would be delighted to make you happy and enroll you in each of these classes! If I had to miss one, I could not pick, so I'll see you there.

Your Education committee is working on 2025. We've got some talented instructors in mind, and are working on these and more.

As we discussed at our October meeting, be thinking of a red & white quilt pattern you would love to make. If enough of us come up with a collection of red & white quilts, we'd have quite a display. It will give you something to work on before the February mystery, and after Christmas gifts. AND all times between.

So much is going on, with retreats, classes, online fun. Jump in and enjoy some of the joy of stitching together! If I don't see you at retreat in February, I'll see you at the Annual Meeting Saturday, April 13th.
