What do Kachemak Bay quilters think about most in May? Answer: The Mothers’ Day Quilt show! Many in our group rushed to finish quilts for the show, and others of us cheered them on. The three-day show put on by the Lions Club was spectacular, as usual, with quilts of all sizes and designs displayed. Attendees could vote for their favorites in each category.
Other news: Many of us enjoyed the Kenai Peninsula’s Spring meeting on the first Saturday of April. Show-and-tell and potluck times were the best, of course, though we all happily sat through the meeting, which was run very well and efficiently, in order to qualify for the rest.
In April, Jane Regan invited Haven House staff to join us at a Teddy Bear Tea, held at Lee Bowman’s house. Ten of us wrapped donated teddy bears and stuffed animals in quilts and afghans made by quilters. The wrapped bears are then given to children who staff members interview regarding family crises. Megan and Marcie from Haven House explained the program and answered our questions. Thank you to all our quilters who contributed, to help families in need.
