Author Cyndi McChesney demonstrates how to work with a variety of different types of panels in her book, "Fun with Panels". She explains how to use panels for bags, table runners, quilts and placements. Students also learn to map out designs using panels. Chapter Four in her book deals with "wonky" panels and using odd-sized sections. The book walks through the steps of how to create a variety of quilts and other projects without using a pattern. Cyndi suggests that the solo panels that are available today work well with theme borders that highlight the panel motif. Understanding your intended space is important, so you know if your panel is in good proportion to the space available. The goal is to creatively fit the spaces around your panel or between the elements of the panel.
Cyndi will be teaching class(s) sponsored by the Kenai Peninsula Quilting Guild on June 4 & 5, 2027, at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna.
