So glad it has warmed up a bit outside. Those near zero temps and that screaming wind these last couple weeks was getting a bit old. But that didn’t seem to stop our diehard group of quilters from getting together each week to sew.
Our fall retreat was a little later than usual this year, not happening until the first of November but we had a full house with 23 quilters. We had several sewing friends from out of town join us. It is always so good to have our extended quilting friends join our little retreats. While I am not sure how much sewing was accomplished, we certainly had a lot of laughs, good food, great conversations and visiting.
Our community projects continue to keep us busy making tops, quilting and presenting. Our project to honor all of our local Veterans has slowed down, having presented 272 Veterans here in Seward and the surrounding areas with beautiful quilts. We do continue to add a few more Veterans to our list. Our “Senior/Community” project has been in full swing for the last 15 months, in that time we having presented 104 beautiful quilts. It was suggested that our motto be “Cover Seward in Quilts.”
Our winter sewing season is keeping us all busy and sewing together. With great community support, we have been provided two beautiful areas to sew. We get together every Tuesday and every other Sunday to sew and enjoy our quilting time with friends.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with many happy hours of sewing. Hope to see many of you at the February Retreat in Homer.
Happy Quilting Everyone!
