Don’t forget Anelie Belden’s two-day class, "Thoroughly Modern Dresden", scheduled for August 7 & 8 at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna.  The classes start at 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday and Saturday.  Friday evening, starting at 7:00 pm, there will be a lecture and a Trunk Show open to the public at no cost.  Anelie Belden comes to us from Volcano, California.  Anelie began her sewing career working in the fashion industry.  After owning her own quilt shop and teaching classes, Anelie began designing quilts.  Her piecing technique has been demonstrated on “The Quilt Show”, which stars Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims.  Anelie Belden has taught at Quilt Guilds throughout the country and the Houston Quilt Festival.  Her quilts have been featured in Quiltmaker’s Magazine and The Art of the Quilt Calendar.

The Guild will be sponsoring Susan Else, a soft sculpture artist and teacher, on May 20-21, 2016.  Susan will be teaching a hands-on workshop exploring techniques for making organic 3D in fabric.  Check out her website at www.susanelse.com  A trunk show is scheduled for Friday evening.

Much thanks to Barb Steckel for all her help in my transition to Vice President/Education Chair.  Barb’s knowledge and understanding of the process and recruitment of instructors is invaluable and I appreciate her input and that of our membership.  If anyone has any suggestions for instructors/classes they would like to see the Guild sponsor, please bring it to the attention of the Education Committee.  Your Education Committee members are Sue Magyar, Barb Steckel, Alice Krivitsky, Cathy Howlett, Donna Glenz, Lorna Kramer, and Cheri Worley.
