Seward News

While summer sees a slight reduction in our sewing ranks, we’ve still got quite a bit going on this summer.

The UFO party currently has 8 participants and could always use some more- you don't have to live in Seward. We completed 10 projects the first half of the year and our first month in July saw another 5 projects completed. Contact Heather Johnston, hm_j@att.net if you are interested in knowing the particulars or joining.

Donna Glenz gave PJ Bauer 37 quilts for the Baby Welcome Wagon a little over a month ago. There are approximately 5 more baby quilts ready to go, and Seward Area Quilters continue to work on them.   The latest delivery by Donna to Seward Animal Shelter were seven dog/cat beds made with scraps.  The scraps fill the beds easily, which keeps the supply line going.

We have continued to sew through the summer months with our loyal few (or diehard sewers) showing up on Wednesdays and Sundays.  We had several mini classes, the notebook cover, zipper bag and the schlep bag.  We are lucky to have traveling nurses join us for sewing a few times.  It’s great to see new faces.  Several of us are working on the Elizabeth Hartman, Penguin Party sew along.

We also have a new Grandma in our midst.  Our very own Newsletter Chair, Lois Daubney, has been blessed with her first human grandchild!  She has many fur grand babies, but now she has a two legged jewel. We expect pictures!
