NEWS FROM THE PRESIDENT - September 2014

Are you up for a challenge

After the positive responses to the 12x12 Challenge Show that was displayed in July, the KPQG board is offering an opportunity to all of our members.  Each of you are invited to make a 12”x12” completed quilt for a Guild display.

Each 12” square will be an individual quilt.  The quilt needs to be finished any way you choose.  No sleeve is required.  Any quilting technique is encouraged.  Feel free to use embellishments, dyes, stencils, and/or stitching to add interest.  Simple traditional patterns will work fine or feel free to create your design.  Label your quilt with the title, your name, the location, and the year.

For this 1st challenge, the board chose the theme “WATER” to provide as much leeway as possible for the entrants.  Water exists in many forms, has many purposes, provides for all living things, and is vital to our existence!

The Timeline for the Challenge is:

-Introduce and answer questions at the October meeting.

-Finished quilts can be turned in at the Spring Retreat in Homer OR at the April meeting.

-These challenge quilts will be displayed in various places upon request and at the Ninilchik Fair.

-Quilts will be returned to owners at the October meeting.

We invite all of you to join in, have fun and challenge yourself.
