Homer Quilting News

Spring greetings from Kachemak Bay Quilters – the winter that wasn’t in Homer!

We had a wonderful time at the quilt retreat in February.  Great food, great conversations, and wonderful projects.

Theresa Dubber is “in the process,” setting up the Pratt Museum raffle quilt blocks. The theme this year is any aspect of Kachemak Bay; quilting will be by Karrie Youngblood.  The plan is to finish the quilt by May, hang it at the museum, and begin selling raffle tickets.
A number of quilts and coverings are being made by Kachemak Bay quilters to donate to Haven House, Homer’s shelter for abused women and families.  We’re using a lot of donated fabric and scraps, clearing out the back room of Kachemak Center.
Open Sew at the Alaska Bible Institute will be April 16-18 and May 14-16.  For more information, contact Dana Lewis.
Remember, Homer’s annual quilt show, is Mother’s Day weekend, May 9 and 10.  Check out the shorebird entries, part of the Shorebird Festival, as well as the quilts.   Vote for your favorite quilts, wall hangings, and/or other entries.  Hope to see you there!
