Homer News June 2014

Kachemak Bay Quilters have just successfully completed our 30th annual quilt show.  Our Viewer’s Choice winner was Patrice Krant (a Guild member!) and her eagle wall-hanging.  Over 400 people attended the show and we displayed 65 quilts, wall art, and other quilted items.  The Shorebird Challenge, featuring birds of Kachemak Bay, has been a popular addition to the quilt show.  Lots of work but lots of fun.

Our Snowbirds have returned and Kachemak Community Center is bursting at the seams on Thursdays.  We’re had our second Open Sew at ABI May 15 -17.  What a treat to sit and sew for 3 days – and maybe finish a project or two.

The Pratt Museum raffle quilt, “Bears and Berries,” is completed and displayed in the museum.  Layout was designed by Theresa Dubber with quilting by Peggy Parsons.  Again this year the blocks are very unique and use a variety of techniques.  When you’re in Homer, stop by the Pratt and buy a raffle ticket or two for this one-of-a-kind quilt!
