Kachemak Bay Quilters News

Spring 2024

Other than watching snow melt, grass turn green, and our feathered and furry friends give birth, all of which are fantastic after a long winter, probably the biggest event for quilters was the Mother’s Day Quilt Show in Homer. Once again, the Lions Club put on the event at the Elks Club. It was an incredible show with lots of talent displayed by everyone who entered their quilts. Thanks to all of you who participated and congratulations to the winners in each category!

In other news, we have appreciated receiving gifts of fabric from the stashes of long-time quilters who don’t need it anymore. The fabric will be helpful for making service quilts, and for completing personal scrap projects. The quilters’ storage room totes are filled to the brim now, so we have plenty to finish those projects.

Many of our quilters have been leaving to travel this spring or arriving back in Homer from their winter homes. This turn-over is interesting because all of us return with stories to tell. And once again, our Thursday meetings become a fun place to relate and communicate.
