Education Report

Barbara Steckel, VP Education

On August 5 & 6 Pam Ventgen taught a class on Light Breeze using a template from Victoria Findlay Wolfe. It was a fun class and everyone enjoyed being together and learning a new technique. Pictures have been posted on the KPQG website.

This newsletter will come right after Nancy Matthew’s wallet class. Will get pictures posted on the website as soon as possible.

There is still room in Sharon Hale’s class of Mickey Moose. This class will be held on September 10. The cost is $35 for the one-day class. Remember you can always donate your Mickey for the holidays if you don’t have someone in mind to give Mickey to. Think of all the fun fabrics you could use in this class.

We are always looking for ideas for short educational programs after our meetings in April and October. If you have a neat technique, ruler, or something that the Guild would be interested in – please let me know.

October 29 is “Getting Ready for the Holidays”. This will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. We will have projects from each area. More information will be emailed out to everyone.

Looking forward to next year, we are gathering information on several teachers from outside Alaska who might be willing to teach in Alaska next year. We are also looking at local teachers and those from around Alaska. Remember if you have a suggestion for a teacher, please let someone on the Education Committee know – Kathleen Barkley, Donna Glenz, and Sue Magyar from Seward; Kris Rutledge and Lorraine Murphy from Homer; Cathy Howlett and Barb Steckel from Central Peninsula. You can always provide information to our President. We want your input on the types of classes you are interested in.

Education is a key goal of our Guild, please share your ideas.
